Cryptozoology (n) - The search and study of animals which are only rumored to exist.
It's been a busy few months for Cryptozoology, with a new media story nearly every week. First we had the Montauk Monster, then the Bigfoot in the freezer, then a chupacabra was supposedly running around Texas, then there was video footage of a lake monster over in Sweden ...
All of those monsters, however, were less than convincing. I'm sure we could do a much better job of creating a believable cryptozoological oddity.
Your aim in this contest is to create a cryptozoological hoax photo that looks so real, had it not appeared at Worth1000, people might have done a double take. Hoaxes can overlap (i.e. you can do an entry of Bigfoot, even if it's been done a dozen times). Originality is not key here. Quality is.
There is a long list of such creatures here if you need it, or you can invent your own mystery creature.
Have fun, keep it clean, be creative. Make sure you've read the Entering Contests section of the FAQ.
As always, quality is a must. We will remove poor entries no matter how much we like you. You'll have 48 hours for this contest, so make your submission count.
