About

Avi Muchnick and Iz Derdik founded Worth1000.comand launched it on January 1, 2002. It was the first organized digital contest site of its kind, featuring personal stats, a Hall of Fame, and a daily “Photoshop” contest based around themes. It was successful overnight, being featured in hundreds of news outlets and shows, and being visited by millions of people. In 2003 it became the fist website of it’s kind to enable clients to have many artists design logos for them as part of a single contest, an industry worth hundreds of millions of dollars today.

In 2007, Avi and Iz decided to found Aviary.com and began to focus less on Worth1000 as their company grew and they had less time.

By 2013, Avi knew it was time to find a new owner for Worth1000. So he sold it to Emerge Media, who agreed to let him create a museum of his 1,000 most favorite image galleries.

Also a special thanks to Mario Klingemann, for his wonderful image blurring algorithm!
